MTV Networks will make every episode of South Park available for free online next year. The important part of this news is the fact that MTV is not doing this to make you happy; they're doing it to make money.
That's right; since "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" went online, its popularity soared, so MTV put 2 and 2 together and they've realized that trying to milk every cent out of your customers by repackaging and reselling the same content a hundred times might be a bad idea, and that giving something for free might actually yield more profit in the end. As well as a bunch of happy viewers.
South Park has been available on the web for quite some time over at SouthParkStudios.com, but only short excerpts from the show were offered. Now, we're getting the real deal, and this trend might spread to other shows owned by Viacom/MTV; however, MTV execs aren't ready to give any specifics on that just yet.
