LOS ANGELES -- Let the predictions begin.
With dozens of celebs scheduled to be trapped in a room together for several hours at the MTV Video Music Awards, we're bound to witness some crazy moments.
Mashable got a sneak peek at the seating chart for Sunday's ceremony at Microsoft Theatre, and we learned just how the placements are selected.
"It's usually beef and love and everything in between," VMA executive producer Van Toffler told Mashable. "We get requests from publicists, agents, managers leading up to the show saying you can't sit this one next to that one."

Here are five things that could happen with these seating arrangements.
1. Kanye may make the VMAs a family affair
Don't be surprised if you see cameos from Kim Kardashian, daughter North West, Caitlyn Jenner and other Kardashian family members.
"There's a ton of empty seats next to Kanye," Toffler said. "I don't know if that's because family members are coming or a lot of people don't want to be next to him or a lot of people want to be next to him. I think some family members will be in the house."
West, a 21-time Grammy winner, will be accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, following in the footsteps of previous recipients Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Beyoncé.
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen will be behind Kanye -- optimal seats for photobombs.
2. Britney Spears' duckface with Kylie and Tyga?
To Kanye's left, a few seats down, will be sister-in-law Kylie Jenner, who will be just inches away from VMA royalty Britney Spears. A night without selfie between the two -- and maybe even with Kylie's boyfriend Tyga or Britney's young sons -- would surprise us.
3. Taylor Swift may rule the night
Taylor Swift, who will be debuting her "Wildest Dreams" music video at the VMAs, has secured the front-row seat closest to the stage, likely because she will win many, if not all, of nine categories she's nominated in for "Bad Blood" and "Blank Space."
There are two empty seats to her left, which could be filled by boyfriend Calvin Harris and bestie Selena Gomez, who just performed "Good For You" with Swift on the 1989 World Tour in L.A. on Wednesday. There's no word on where Nicki Minaj will be seated yet.
Behind Swift will be "Bad Blood" stars Gigi Hadid (Slay-Z) and Serayah McNeill (Dilemma).
4. Jonas Brothers may recruit Justin Bieber
Probably not, but Joe Jonas may be plopped between girlfriend Gigi and brother Nick Jonas, who are just one row in front of Justin Bieber. It's as though the pages of Tiger Beat are coming to life all in one section, much to the delight of thirsty readers everywhere.
5. This may be the most fashionable section
Fashion designer Jeremy Scott, who redesigned this year's Moonman statuette, told Mashable he'll be dressing several stars. He wouldn't reveal which celebs will get the Jeremy Scott makeover, but if this arrangement is any indication, he could be the mastermind behind outfits for Demi Lovato, Rita Ora and Pharrell.
More seating arrangements
Seated a few seats to Swift's left will be The Weeknd, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson.
Fifth Harmony, last year's Artist to Watch winner, will have prime seats near the main stage.
