MyFitnessPal Now Lets You Share Progress With Facebook Friends

Peer pressure can sometimes be a good thing. That's why apps and websites like MyFitnessPal, Fitbit and NikeFuel connect you with friends. You can also meet other users of your preferred fitness device and share stories, tips and goals.

MyFitnessPal has long been one of the best apps for tracking your calorie intake. The app's list of foods is massive, plus you can add in your own items and choose frequently eaten items to quickly add to your day's menu.

The app is available for iPhone and iPad. The Android app and the website will be updated later this week. There's no set timing yet for the update of the BlackBerry and Windows apps.

Working out with friends in person or through an app provides you with more encouragement and support. Setting goals as a team also reminds you when you're falling behind or can help your friends keep pace with you. According to one study, the desire to lose weight can be contagious. Another study showed tracking your diet through an app proved to be even more effective when it comes to weight loss as tracking your diet on paper.
