MySpace, NBC and FreemantleMedia North America have teamed up for an online event, starting today and ending May 5, to orchestrate an online audition for the television series “America’s Got Talent,” which runs as a summer broadcast across the US. A page described as a virtual audition city on the social network has been launched to allow prospective talent to upload videos in the six-day submission window provided to offer themselves for consideration as participants in the weekly tournament.
John Miller, chief marketing officer for NBC Universal Television explained the exclusive partnership as providing the company to “not only promote ‘America’s Got Talent’ to the MySpace audience, but also tap in to the site’s huge online talent base, who (NBC and the show’s producers) might not have reached through the traditional audition process.”
