MySpace Hack?

MySpace started to show some seriously odd behavior on Wednesday evening PST, which was surely caused by a hack. A Mashable reader grabbed these screenshots, which show Tom's message on the user homepage being replaced by a "Verify Your Email Address" message with Japanese text, seemingly from Ozzie (Ozzie is like Tom for MySpace Japan - very unusual to see on the US site).

Clicking the link took users to an odd-looking "verify your email" page, also written in Japanese and presumably designed to phish email addresses from users. A little later, a message appeared from Tom telling users that photo and video uploads had been disabled due to a "little glitch". Some images were also failing to load.

We've no idea what went wrong, but the appearance of Ozzie and Japanese text on US profiles suggests that vulnerabilities in MySpace's international sites could affect the US site, too. No doubt MySpace is quickly patching things up.
