MySpaceTV started as a place to showcase videos, and eventually web series. Like a sitcom diva, MySpace soon recognized the potential of producing some of the content showcased on MySpaceTV as well. And so became the social networking site's partnership with Iron Sink Media. More control plus "star power" equals more money that MySpace can keep to itself.

Now MySpace has partnered with Hammer Films for the first co-production project in the UK for MySpaceTV. Starting next Spring, MySpaceTV will release 20 webisodes followed by a full length movie on DVD, which will also be available for download.

The film is called "Beyond the Rave," and like most other content heavily promoted on MySpace, it's made for Internet viewing and distribution. This is the first horror movie in 30 years for Hammer Films, so it's kind of a big deal (for Hammer, at least). Teens seem to really like horror flicks on their social networking sites. Imeem took advantage of this fact with the offering of a full-length film, thanks to a distribution deal with Palm Pictures.
