MySpace will launch a competition tomorrow in conjunction with the New York Times that gives one college or graduate student and one middle school or high school teacher the chance to accompany columnist Nick Kristof on an expedition to Africa. It's the second time the contest has been run.

For a chance to win, entrants will be asked to submit a 700 word essay explaining their interest in the trip. The contest is open to students aged 18 or above who are attending an American college, university, or graduate school, and teachers working in a middle or high school in the US. The winners will be chosen by Kristof.

In a related move, the NYTimes is announcing that as of March 13th, TimesSelect (the subscription-based part of the newspaper site) will be available for free to all registered college students and faculty with a .edu e-mail address - existing student subscribers will get refunds for their previous subscriptions.

Other recent MySpace contests include My State of the Union, Burnout Band Slam 2 and a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Contest to celebrate the launch of MySpace Comic Books.
