MySpace Partners with The Onion: Finally, Credible News from Fox

MySpace is putting out a tongue-in-cheek press release tomorrow to announce that comedy news purveyor The Onion is partnering with the "fledging" social network to bring "journalistic integrity and correct puntcuation[sic]". The Onion's video offering will appear on MySpace TV, and The Onion gets a MySpace page.

Distribution will be good for The Onion: The Onion News Network is a great video offering, but largely siloed on its own site, without so much as a comment thread (I only just realized there's an RSS feed).

Meanwhile, The Onion will also launch a MySpace blog, bringing fresh news from its "892 offices" worldwide. "The Wall Street Journal is all well and good, but the Onion News Network represents the best in hard-hitting investigative journalism (at least on MySpace)," jokes Jeff Berman, GM of MySpace TV, referring to News Corp's recent acquisition.

No disclosure is made that The Onion is a direct rival of Fox News, News Corp's comedy news channel.
