Celebrity gossip blog TMZ has teamed up with MySpace to distribute video on MySpaceTV. According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, TMZ will show up to 15 of the latest Britney, Lindsay, and Paris videos on MySpaceTV each week on a branded channel.
[img src="" caption="" credit="" alt=""]Now that it has conquered the blogosphere with more than 11 million monthly unique visitors, TMZ clearly has its eyes on distribution, with its own TV show now in syndication as well, which also re-circulates content from the website. With its huge celebrity culture, MySpace should be another lucrative channel for the AOL-owned property.
More interesting (at least from a relevancy perspective) than the wall-to-wall Hayden Panettiere coverage you can now get on MySpace is watching the evolving business model of TMZ. Most of their content has moved to video, which lends itself incredibly well to distribution. Whether or not the same can be done outside of visually appealing celebrity content remains to be seen, but it certainly points to what the potential end-game could be for mainstream blogs.
