The website also offers a suite of tools for content producers called MobileStage, which artists both independent and signed can use to upload and sell their content to Myxer's users. Warner has announced that some of its artists -- Paramore and Flo Rida, among others -- will be using MobileStage to connect with their fans by offering free wallpapers and ringtone downloads.
Myxer and similar services bypass mobile service carriers' own digital media stores by sending pieces of content to phones using SMS text messaging and 2G or 3G data networks. T-Mobile, Verizon and some other carriers have limited or blocked Myxer's access on certain handsets. Other major carriers and handsets are supported, though, including the iPhone on AT&T.
