Mzinga, a provider of online community solutions, has acquired Prospero Technologies, which specializes in the same SaaS approach for enterprise and consumer use. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Given the vast history behind these merging companies, it's been interesting to see how Mzinga came to be, and how it had to respond to a changing market in regards to its community offerings as an enterprise solution, for about a decade now.
I was particularly interested in the company's ability to shift to a vast and ever-changing market in specific regards to its approach to businesses, given the slow adoption rate this particular niche has seen in years past. The market is currently getting quite ripe, so how will experience help Mzinga, which is now an even larger company, continue on its path? Would it involve a heavy sales team, or an integrated approach to offering DaaS and front-end consumer products?
[img src="" caption="" credit="" alt=""]Looking at what Mzinga largely focuses on, there's an obvious knack for front-end tools directed at consumer interaction. The modular approach allows Mzinga to present polls, feedback features, wikis and more on a case-by-case basis for each company that requires its service. This model is quite similar to eZ.no and a few others out there, most of which have a similarly deep-rooted history in the market. But given the current trends for clouds and intranets as enterprise solutions, would this be something the new Mzinga would also be attacking with certain vigor?
