What didn't quite work for Hansel and Gretel did help the police nab a burglary suspect.

Francisco J. Munoz's love for food betrayed him when a trail of snacks and lottery tickets led police to the 20-year-old, whose shirt was covered in nacho cheese.

The Gazette reports that police were called to Creekside Market in Iowa City, Iowa for a reported burglary on May 29. A door had been smashed with a brick, causing $1,000 worth of damage.

Police followed a trail of goodies 100 yards away to find Munoz carrying two cases of beer and boasting a whopping .270 percent blood alcohol content.

He was arrested and faces charges of third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and public intoxication.

No word on the cash value of those lottery tickets, yet.
