NASA Astronauts Shave Their Heads After Losing World Cup Bet

A gentleman never backs out on a bet, even if he's floating in zero gravity high above Earth.

Expedition 40 Commander Steve Swanson and Flight Engineer Reid Wiseman of NASA shaved their heads on Thursday after losing a World Cup bet to German crewmate Alexander Gerst of the European Space Agency.

It was nice to wake up this morning and not worry about my hair. There isn’t any. @astro_alex #worldcupfun— Reid Wiseman (@astro_reid) June 27, 2014

The U.S. lost to Germany in yesterday's showdown, which the astronauts were able to watch from their temporary home on board the International Space Station via an uplink of programming.

Don't worry, guys, we're still in it.

Good game Germany! Thanks for the shave @astro_alex #worldcup pic.twitter.com/mJ0upYT87c— Reid Wiseman (@astro_reid) June 26, 2014
