The National Book Foundation has announced its shortlist of finalists for the 2015 National Book Awards.

Founded in 1950, the National Book Awards is an annual celebration of American literature, bestowing prizes upon the best new books that fall under the categories of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and young people's literature. Notable past winners have included Jonathan Franzen for The Corrections, Ralph Ellison for The Invisible Man, Patti Smith for Just Kids and Louis Sachar for Holes.
