It isn't even Halloween, but if you want to see the national tree lighting in Washington, D.C., it's time to start thinking Christmas.
Tickets for the National Christmas Tree lighting on Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. ET will be available through an online lottery, according to the National Park Service and National Park Foundation. The lottery will be open from 10 a.m. ET on Oct. 17 to 10 a.m. ET to Oct. 20, 2014.
The event takes place at the White House Ellipse in President's Park, and the evening includes musical performances in addition to the tree lighting.
This year's performances have not yet been announced; last year talent included Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, the Avett Brothers, Jane Lynch and Janelle Monae.
The national tree lighting ceremony started in 1923, making 2014's event the 81st community celebration in the capitol. This year's ceremony will also be live streamed.
