LONDON -- As we learned recently from that pun-filled Game of Thrones recipe book, George R.R. Martin characters and delicious baked treats go surprisingly well together.

The latest addition to this trend, crafted by Nottinghamshire-based baker Dawn Butler, is one that's so impressively lifelike it actually brings back difficult memories from Season 1 that we still haven't recovered from.

Seriously though, look at the detail on that thing.

The cake triumphed in the carved cake category at last weekend's Cake International event in Birmingham. According to the BBC it took a whopping three weeks to make.

"I wanted the hair to look like it's growing," Butler told the BBC. "It's actually vermicelli -- a rice noodle which I steamed so it bends the way I want it to. Then I airbrushed it to make it look like hair.

"The cake is about five or six layers with the features modelled with chocolate and then covered in chocolate paste as well."

We're still not sure we could actually bring ourselves to eat Ned Stark's head, but you've got to admit the thing is pretty darn impressive.
