A man is spending the next 48 hours combing through a giant pile of hay to find a needle buried somewhere within -- all in the name of art.

Sven Sachsalber is performing the tedious task throughout Thursday and Friday in the Palais de Tokyo, a contemporary art gallery near the Trocadéro in the French capital.

The gallery has warned that it could take longer than the anticipated time if the needle can't be found.

Italian-born Sachsalber's work is described as funny, often serious and sometimes both. His previous performances have included eating poisonous mushrooms and spending 24 hours in a sealed room with a cow.
