Reddit's AMA -- short for "ask me anything" -- is one of the most loved facets of the popular social media site, enabling the community to crowd-interview anyone with an interesting story to tell.

On Tuesday, Reddit launched the first batch of video AMAs, a new take on the format which has folks answering redditors' questions on video, and one of the first stars to participate was none other than astrophysicist and TV host Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Tyson is no stranger to AMAs -- he's participated in five of them since 2011, but this one is a bit different. Not only does he answer the questions to the camera, but the session has a set topic: art.

In the 13-minute video, Tyson answers some serious questions and some quirky ones (our favorite: "If you were going to be painted nude, but the background of the painting was on the surface of a planet of your choice, what planet would you choose and why?"), throwing a fair bit of scientific facts in for good measure.

Reddit announced its video ambitions in May this year, hiring two producers to launch an internal video division. The video AMA is the first original content coming out of that project.

Two more video AMAs were posted Tuesday, one starring actor and singer Hilary Duff, and the other statistician and writer Nate Silver. Check them out below.
