Nelson Mandela has fallen gravely ill as he approaches his 95th birthday. The former South African president who led his nation out of apartheid has been hospitalized in Pretoria for nearly a month with a lung infection.
Per a statement from the office of current President Jacob Zuma, Mandela's condition is stable but critical. However, his health has been fluctuating, and people fear he may not recover from his ailment.
