LONDON -- There was no missing the European premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens here on Wednesday night. As the cast were on the red carpet in Leicester Square, nearby in Trafalgar Square, Nelson's Column turned into a giant lightsaber.

John Boyega, the Londoner who stars as Finn in the film, told fans that the cast had "one more surprise" for them, just before the 52-metre column was illuminated.

On Tuesday night, The Spire in Dublin, a 121-metre-tall structure in Ireland's capital, also turned into a lightsaber. Here's hoping there are more outsized lightsabers in our future.
