Neon Text Messages Glow in Nature

Imagine walking or driving by an unassuming landscape and seeing a neon text message calling out to you. That is the theme of a series of photos by artist and photographer Lee Jung from Seoul.

Jung set up several light installations that spell out timeless messages and placed them on random deserted areas. She then took captivating photos of these simple messages, which include lines such as “I love you with all my heart,” “Till the end of time” and “My heart is yours.” One installation has a single word, “You,” scattered on a patch of grass.

The photographs are Jung’s response to writer Roland Barthes’s "A Lover’s Discourse," an essay about people in love. The light installations depict cliches that we read or hear everywhere. Jung has had work exhibited at the One and J. Gallery and at the Hong Kong International Art Fair.
