If looks were the deciding factor for the success of wearable devices, the new Neptune Due would already be a hit with some.
But making a wearable look inviting is just one piece of the puzzle, the real test is functionality, an area where the Neptune Duo offers a unique departure from most of the wearables we've seen in the past.

The Neptune Due is actually composed of two separate devices: the Hub and the Pocket screen. On your wrist, you can send messages, make calls and get social network notifications. The associated screen not only syncs with the wrist component to serve as an additional display, it also works as a 3,800 mAh battery for the Hub (good for "a few days of normal usage" according to Neptune).
The Montreal, Canada-based company claims that the Neptune Due is the smallest such wearable device available and that it has contains a quad-core processor and support for 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and Bluetooth. Running on Android Lollipop, it's being sold to early bird buyers for $199 and will be priced at $399 when it ships in "late 2015".
Those prices are fairly competitive based on what the Neptune Duo promises, but right now, purchasing it is a leap of faith, based primarily on the demonstration video (above). We'll see if it lives up to its promise when it gets into the hands of users.
