Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has announced the company's lastest international expansion: Scandinavia. Hastings announced Wednesday that the video streaming and home delivery service would be coming to Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland by the year's end.
This is the company's fourth international move beyond the U.S. Netflix opened up in Canada in 2010, Latin America in September 2011 and most recently the UK in January of this year.
Thus far, the international expansions have had mixed results. Of the companies 27 million subscribers, just 3.6 million come from outside the U.S. While Canada has been profitable, Hastings admits Latin America was less of a success.
