Keith Richards is ready for his close-up.

Netflix, which is currently kicking off this year's Television Critics Association summer press tour, just announced that a new documentary about the Rolling Stones rocker will premiere on the streaming site Sept. 18. Directed by Oscar winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom), Keith Richards: Under the Influence will give fans a deeper look into the life of the iconic guitarist and notorious hell-raiser.

“If there’s a Mount Rushmore of Rock ’n’ Roll, Keith’s face is surely on it," Neville says in a statement. "He has always represented the soul of rock music — for all of the light and dark shades that implies. To my relief, Keith Richards turned out to be a real man — full of humor, knowledge and wisdom."

The film will delve into Richards' musical journey, tracking the songs and genres that influenced his style as an artist. From the bluesy, seminal tunes of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf to his exploration of country in Nashville, the film will paint a picture of Richard's musical touchstones. New music and rare archival material will also be included in the documentary.

Richards, now 71, is an original member of the Rolling Stones, the iconic rock band that formed in 1962. Decades and dozens of albums later, the band is still on top of the world, recently wrapping up a North American tour.
