Netflix is giving some of you permission to have a one-night stand with your favorite bad movie.

The company is testing a "private viewing" feature that allows users to hide a movie or show from their viewing history and recommendations.

Now, when you curl up after a long week to watch 27 Dresses on a Friday night, you can be sure your roommate (or spouse or parents or whoever else you share your account with) won't see the remnants of your shameful viewing habits.

The new feature, which was first reported by GigaOm, also excludes your selection from its recommendation technology, meaning you won't spend the next two weeks with reminders of the late night mistake you made when you caved and watched Failure to Launch (again).

In a statement to Mashable, a Netflix spokesperson wrote:

“At Netflix we continuously test new things. In this case, we are testing a feature in which a user watching a movie or TV show can choose to view in “Privacy Mode.” Choosing that option means the program will not appear in your viewing activity log, nor will it be used to determine recommendations about what you should watch in the future.”

The feature also hides your viewing history from Facebook (if you've linked your account with Netflix). After all, nothing generates snarky comments quite like an update that you've finally finished Season 3 of Pretty Little Liars.

Netflix says that the test will roll out to territories around the globe, but not all users will get the update. There's also a chance it may never become a permanent feature.

For those users who fall into the test group, the rest of us would like to borrow your login.
