UPDATED 9 p.m. ET
That brief and terrible time in our country when “Netflix and chill” (wink!) was imperiled and people momentarily lost their chill is over. The Netflix website is back up.
The movies and TV shows never stopped working, so maybe this was just the mischievous soul of the Internet reminding us of our dependency on the streaming service.

When the Netflix website went down on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. ET, millions of people were sent into a panic, right when they were fresh home from work and ready for some television comfort food.
There was little information about the glitch, just a bare website displaying a ton of movies you could somehow still watch despite the site's failure.
On the top of the website's homepage, a message read:
"We're currently experiencing a technical issue. While we get things back to normal, some features aren't available - but you can play select titles on this page."
Netflix also tweeted that there were "streaming issues" on "some devices."
Hi all - we are aware of streaming issues on some devices & we are working quickly to solve them. We will update you when they are resolved.— Netflix CS (@Netflixhelps) November 11, 2015
At 8:37 p.m. ET the nightmare was over:
The streaming issues we reported earlier have now been resolved. Thank you for your patience, and as always, happy streaming!— Netflix CS (@Netflixhelps) November 11, 2015
Predictably, the website glitch resulted in a fair amount of handwringing from loyal users.

My dad just yelled to my mother "HOW THE HELL CAN WE NETFLIX AND CHILL IF THE NETFLIX WONT WORK?"— Curtis (@dennison_curtis) November 11, 2015
Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
