Sony Pictures to Produce Netflix's Next Big Show

Netflix's next big drama, a psychological thriller series from the creators of Damages, will be made by Sony Pictures -- the first major studio to create a series for Netflix, following its recent success with AMC's Breaking Bad.

According to co-executive producers Todd Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler, the yet-unnamed 13-episode series "centers on a family of adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home." It's set to begin production in early 2014.

The show will premiere exclusively on Netflix, though the company didn't say whether all 13 episodes will be released at once or sequentially. Once the episodes have aired, the series could be sold via DVD or licensed to another network.

Meanwhile, Netflix is reportedly in talks with cable providers to bring its app directly to cable set-top boxes.
