Neulio is a Free Video Site for Educational Clips

Neulio is a recently launched video education site where anyone can create lessons for free. It's this free reign to knowledge that sets Neulio apart from other video lesson sites, like LessonBites or Sclipo. that have cropped up in recent months. There are no subscription fees to host your content, and no options for charging for content either.

Neulio is pretty structured in how your lessons can be established, and it was borne of a desire to create a platform for long-distance learning/teaching, according to Somewhat Frank. Lessons created can be in video or quiz format. Create a profile, and you'll be able to access, share, and create lessons, though lessons are also available for non-members as well. Neulio will keep track of the recent lessons you've viewed, but there doesn't appear to be an option for saving lessons in any way associated to your account (i.e. favorites folder, etc.). You can send lessons to friends, social bookmarking sites, rate them and leave comments.

As far as an educational tool goes, there are a few things missing from Neulio that I think could help it truly evolve into an educational resource. For instance, the ability to upload slide shows as lessons, or the option of a user to take notes or access a transcript of the lesson, as VideoJug offers. For video content that's used for educational purposes, I personally find it very useful to have a tool such as Veotag's, which lets you break down your video clips into easily digestible chapters, along with descriptions, that viewers can toggle between in order to access the portions they need to see at any given time.

In all, Neulio is off to a good start, in terms of its basic offerings and established objectives for future growth. It's a crowded space that Neulio is entering, with several niche sites like Mango or LiveMocha launching video sites for learning languages.
