The American midfielder scored the fastest goal in United States' World Cup history and suffered a Game of Thrones-worthy bloody nose in the first half of the team's 2-1 victory over Ghana Monday night.

Dempsey, a two-time World Cup veteran, first appeared in the 2006 tournament in Germany. That level of experience likely helped Dempsey power though the blood gushing down his face and ignore all the hamstrings being pulled around him, and helped him not let Ghana ruin another World Cup for the U.S.
