The viral campaign for Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master continues to suck us into its glacial-paced vortex.

The Master first started turning heads in May of last year when a teaser poster appeared at Cannes that featured a shadowy figure at dusk with a title that simply read "Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Project."
A year later, fans got a look at a trailer for the film featuring Phoenix and Jonny Greenwood's creepy, metronome-inspired score and a select few at Cannes were treated to a four-minute preview of the film.
Anderson and his producers have been tight-lipped about the '50s era-drama, releasing only a sparse, black-and-white web site and keeping a minimal presence on social media.
But the strategy has worked, as cineastes have gobbled up previews of the film in advance of its October 12 release. Case in point, today's sneak peak at the film became a trending topic on Twitter soon after its release.
