Security at New Year's Eve celebrations around the world is expected to be tighter and more visible than it has been in years on Thursday, as many nations are still on high alert following recent extremist attacks in Paris, Beirut, and San Bernardino, California.
Late Thursday, Munich Police issued a warning urged people to stay away from the city's main train station and a second train station in the city's Pasing neighborhood because of a "serious, imminent threat" of a terror attack

Around 6,000 New York Police Department officers will fill Times Square on Thursday as revelers celebrate during the nation's most famous New Year's Eve party. London's celebrations will be marked with fireworks and around 3,000 police patrolling the city's downtown.
In Rochester, New York, police arrested an alleged Islamic State sympathizer who was accused of plotting to attack a local restaurant on Thursday night. As a response to the arrest, the city canceled their planned fireworks display.
Paris and Brussels have canceled typical New Years Eve fireworks shows altogether.
