It's not often that both New York Mets and Chicago Cubs fans are still joyously talking about baseball this late in October, but here we are.

Those squads will face off in game one of the National League Championship Series on Saturday night, the first in a best-of-seven series.

All that pent-up playoff energy has manifested in verbal jabs from one American metropolis to another. Even local branches of the same news outlets--such as DNAinfo's Chicago and NYC branches--are taking shots at each other.

All this warring of words looked fun, so we figured we'd jump in. Below, we've given you five reasons why New York City and Chicago are better than each other. You decide who's side you're on.

Broadway

Chicago has lots of great stage performances, but does anyone think plays such as Hamilton and The Book of Mormon would have become mega-hits if they'd never been on Broadway?

The Subway

The Subway is dirty and dingy and all that, sure. It also never stops, and it'll get you to just about anywhere in the city you want to go.

New York City has the best public transportation system in America. That might not be saying a whole lot, but it's true.

Beaches

New York City's beaches have actual waves. Like, ones you can surf.

That's always better than whatever ripples beach-goers might find on Lake Michigan.

That picture above is from Chicago.

It looks like a scene from one of those end-of-the-world movies.

Rent

There's a reason The Rent is Too Damn High Party is from New York City. NYC may not be America's most expensive city to rent an apartment (thanks, San Francisco), but Chicago is still way cheaper.

The. Trash.

Full disclosure: I live in New York City (Brooklyn, to be exact) and even I'm with Chicago on this one. It's almost impossible to walk anywhere in NYC after dark and not come across some giant mountain of trash. As Chicagoans will tell you, they do not have this problem.

Second City

So many comedians run through Chicago before they become megastars. Tina Fey. Amy Poehler. Stephen Colbert. Steve Carrell. And that's just to name a few.

President Barack Obama

The commander in chief hails from Chicago. Hard to argue with that one.

Though the top two candidates for president in 2016 do have serious New York roots...

Chicago's football team is actually in Chicago

It's always been a little awkward that fans of the New York Jets and New York Giants have to hop on a train to New Jersey to see their teams play.

The Chicago Bears aren't, like, secretly the Indiana Bears. They play in Chicago.
