Instagram Trailer Teases 11 'New York Times Magazine' Short Films

The New York Times Magazine will fittingly take on a cinematic for its annual Hollywood Issue honorees this year, incorporating 11 big-name actors into 11 short films that will live on NYTimes.com and the publication's YouTube channel, starting on Nov. 25.

Cate Blanchett, Bradley Cooper, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and Robert Redford are among the celebrities starring in the short movies created by Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan cinematographer Janusz Kaminski.

"We asked 11 screenwriters or writing teams for one original line of dialogue," Kathy Ryan, the magazine's director of photography, told Mashable. "We then gave the lines to Janusz Kaminski, who created the concepts for the short films, one for each actor."

The magazine shared this Instagram trailer, below, on Thursday to promote the films, each of which will run 60 seconds or less and focus on one genre, such as "Western, film noir, French New Wave, psychological horror" and more.

Every year, New York Times film critic A.O. Scott picks the talent for the Hollywood Issue. This project will showcase his selections in a more artsy way, in addition to the photographs of the celebrities that the issue's readers are accustomed to seeing.
