Rare Surviving Panda Triplets Are Impossibly Cute

What's cuter than one baby panda? Three baby pandas that have the same birthday.

A mother panda gave birth to baby triplets in China's Chimelong Zoo on July 29 -- the only surviving panda triplets in the world.

The two weeks that have passed since the triplets were delivered by their mother, Ju Xiao, is a promising sign for their health. The last panda triplet delivery was in 1999, also in China, as the result of artificial insemination, but one cub died three days later. Ju Xiao's cubs are especially rare because they were conceived naturally.

The cubs weigh in between 2.9 and 4.4 ounces and are smaller than the size of a human palm, according to The Guardian.

Pandas, one of the world's endangered species, have an extremely low reproductive rate; females ovulate once a year, giving them two to three days to conceive.
