Intense Image Shows Students Evacuating School Shooting

At least one gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., Friday morning. Reports from the ground indicate there are fatalities, but the story is still developing. Many local news outlets are using Twitter to deliver up-to-the-second reporting from the scene.

Among the photos of the tragic event spreading on Twitter is this one showing a group of schoolchildren being evacuated from the school. It was taken by Shannon Hicks, who works for local outlet The Newtown Bee, and was tweeted by WTNH.

According to a local CBS news affiliate broadcast, the children were "advised to run past the office with their eyes closed."
