Google just unveiled its new Nexus 4 smartphone from LG -- its first collaboration with the manufacturer on a Nexus device. The company also announced the Nexus 10 and updated Nexus 7.
The smartphone, which runs on Google's Android 4.2 mobile operating system (Jelly Bean), packs a heavy punch with a quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM. Along with a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 display and a 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, the new device includes Photosphere -- an interactive photo feature -- gesture typing and NFC connectivity. And, of course, it comes with Google Maps for Android.
"While Nexus 4 is incredibly powerful under the hood, it also features the latest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.2—the simplest and smartest version of Android yet," the company said in a statement. "Starting with the camera, we've reinvented the photo experience with Photo Sphere, which lets you capture images that are literally larger than life."
It's key to note that the Nexus 4 does not come with LTE -- it only features HSPA+.
Pricing is as follows: $299 (8GB) and $349 (16GB) for unlocked, contract-free units. A 16GB version is available on T-Mobile for $199.
The device will be available in both an 8GB version and a 16GB version, starting Nov. 13 in the U.S., UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Australia. It will roll out to Europe, Central/South America, Asia and the Middle East by the end of November.
