NFL Superstar Expertly Justifies Tweeting 'Game of Thrones' Spoiler

Sunday night's Game of Thrones episode lit up the Twittersphere like one of Daenerys Targaryen's dragons torching a would-be enemy. All through Sunday night and Monday, Twitter was home to funny reactions, angry reactions, I'm-freaking-out reactions and the best reaction of all, which came from one of the show's stars.

NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers got into the conversation, as well. The Green Bay Packer's Monday night tweet, however, drew big-time backlash from many of his 950,000-plus followers for spoiling a major plot point:

Can't believe the Starks have been wiped out on GOT. At least the mother of dragons is still alive. #hot#midrange#— Aaron Rodgers (@AaronRodgers12) June 4, 2013

So how did Rodgers handle the hate? Not by issuing a meek apology, and not by deleting his post. No, he dealt with it in the best way possible: by returning to Twitter an hour later to invoke a little-known clause in the Internet fanboy handbook. Here's his rebuttal:

I didn't watch GOT last night either. But the rules are you have 24 hrs to watch the show. Sorry. Didn't make the rules.— Aaron Rodgers (@AaronRodgers12) June 4, 2013

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Tom Crabtree then came to Rodgers' defense on Tuesday, and Rodgers posted the support on his own timeline like a defense attorney calling a star witness to the stand:

“@tcrabtree83: @aaronrodgers12 The 24hr Rule is actually a federal law i think. #fact” valid— Aaron Rodgers (@AaronRodgers12) June 4, 2013

You're a certified #moron if you dvr (insert popular show), don't want spoilers and think to yourself, "hey! i'm gonna hop on Twitter!"— Tom Crabtree (@TCrabtree83) June 4, 2013

Whether or not you buy Rodgers' 24-hour rule, it's good to know he's a Daenerys fan. At least we can all agree on that one, right? KHALEEEEEEESIIIIIIIIII!

Is the 24-hour rule valid or not? Give us your take in the comments.
