Nirvanix, which will announce its launch of Wednesday, is a new company that's looking to offer online storage applications specifically for the developer community, and small businesses needing storage options for web-based services.
Whether you're creating a photo-sharing site, a social network, a media delivery site or a backup and recovery service, Nirvanix is presenting itself as an option for your business. It offers a business-to-business storage delivery service (SDS) for web 2.0 media applications and other sites.
Nirvanix can be used as a resource for developers collaborating on a project as well, enabling you to utilize full file system calls, for moving, copying, renaming, deleting, uploading and downloading files and folders. It's got a few simplified applications, too, letting you do things like resize images (video/audio transcoding to be added in the future). The HTTP upload options keep your bandwidth curbed.
