After several days of searching, authorities have concluded a detailed search of Seccombe Lake, saying it yielded nothing new in the investigation.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller told the media that the search was concluded on Saturday evening. Investigators have said the killers tried to cover their tracks by destroying emails, cellphones and other items at their home in Redlands.

They were tipped that the small lake in a park about three miles from where the shootings happened might hold the hard drive, a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation but not authorized to speak publicly about the case told the Associated Press.

But on Sunday, officials told CNN that nothing found in the lake was related to the deadly shooting.

The search of the lake was part of the digital trail authorities have been attempting to piece together in hopes of uncovering more on the motives for the shooting as well as how the couple that carried out the attack, Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 29, planned the assault.

Meanwhile, the FBI continues to investigate Enrique Marquez, Farook's friend -- and relation via marriage -- who purchased two of the guns used by Farook and Malik in the deadly December 2 shooting.
