Mark Zuckerberg is squashing some rumors about a possible Facebook IPO.

In a Time magazine interview that was published yesterday, Zuckerberg says that he's not looking to sell the company, nor is he looking to take Facebook public anytime soon. With its focus on other areas of development, Zuckerberg insists that an IPO is not at the forefront of discussions for the Facebook team. His statement that Facebook granting options to its employees as being a valuable consideration for a possible IPO in the future has been one of the quotes that more than sparked speculation around Facebook going public. Nevertheless, Zuckerberg is, in a sense, cleaning up the mess and insisting that the rumors are not true. Another statement from a Facebook investor may have added fuel to the fire as well.

Although, no one would be surprised if Facebook did decide to go public. With LinkedIn following Facebook's footsteps by opening its platform for third party applications as well as implementing its own plans for an IPO, the stakes for powerful social networks have been raised.
