The sports world was filled with unpleasant reminders of ignorance and hatred this weekend.

First, the exciting action of the NBA playoffs was overshadowed by an audio recording of racist comments allegedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Clippers players staged a silent protest in response to the controversy, and news of the recording was deeply upsetting to many around the world.

Then, a fan threw a banana at FC Barcelona player Dani Alves — a racist taunt — during a match against Villarreal. While Alves had an amazing response to the offensive act, it's still a downer to see fans behaving in such a deplorable way.

When news of racists acts like these pile up, it can be tough to find the right words to express our feelings.

Fortunately, we have music.

That's why we rounded up this Music Monday playlist of empowering songs that promote unity, and fight discrimination. Let's share music from people with the right idea.
