Nokia Has Lost 20% of Smartphone Market Since Microsoft Partnership

Nokia's share of the smartphone market has been in rapid decline for several years. While at the start of 2010 nearly 40% of smartphone owners used Nokia devices, the company's market share has plummeted to below 5%.

A full 20% of Nokia's market share decline occurred after the Feb. 11, 2011, announcement that the company would be entering a strategic partnership with Microsoft. This is not to say the partnership itself is to blame, rather that the two companies are yet to see success together.
