Nokia set out to see if a feature phone could be sufficiently powered by solar energy alone. The findings weren't promising.
After testing its solar-powered C1-02 phone in five different locations, Nokia concluded its device was hard to keep in direct sunlight and limited talk time.
"The most substantial challenge is the limited size of a phone’s back cover, which restricts the extent to which the battery can be charged," Nokia said in a blog post. "What’s more, to ensure mobility, it is essential that the phone’s weather protection doesn’t cover the solar charging panel."
