Google Maps Reveals Location of North Korea Nuclear Test

When your country's nuclear test is picked up by seismologists as a potential earthquake, it can be awfully hard to keep its location a secret. Indeed, entering the U.S. Geological Survey's coordinates in Google Maps for the epicenter of what was first thought to be an earthquake but is now clearly North Korea's third nuclear test shows the exact location of the test:

Google recently released new maps of North Korea tagged with unofficial information from defectors and activists. Not far from the USGS' coordinates is a windy mountain road labeled by those activist cartographers as "Nuclear Test Road," suggesting the area is indeed an underground nuclear test facility. At the end of the jagged, mountainous Nuclear Test Road lies a complex tagged "nuclear test facility."

The spot is also where North Korea conducted its previous tests in 2006 and 2009.

Also not far away is the Hwasong hulag, a prisoner labor camp:

To explore the area for yourself, search the following coordinates on Google Maps: 41.301°N, 129.066°E, thanks to the USGS.

North Korea's third nuclear test comes despite United Nations' warnings against it. Governments around the world have condemned the test and the U.N. Security Council has called an emergency meeting to decide how to handle the precarious situation.
