Thunderstorms be damned: 19 colorful Notting Hill Carnival photos

LONDON -- Central London was a grey place Monday with torrential rain pouring down and the threat of thunder and lightning. But despite all that, Notting Hill Carnival, Europe's biggest street festival, went on.

Hundreds of performers took part with millions expected to attend the two-day event that celebrates London's Caribbean culture. While the rain mostly held off on Sunday, the main parade on Monday was a much more rain-soaked event, with people sheltering under umbrellas and beneath plastic ponchos.
