In partnership with the Control Group, the New York City MTA has decided to go even more digital with the installation of 47-inch interactive touchscreens in subway stations around the city.
The touchscreens or On The Go interactive HD displays, will not only feature a detailed map of the subway system, but will also show commuters real-time information and updates. They will also be a place for ads, which account for a large portion of the revenue of the MTA.
These interactive touchscreens are meant to make commuting for locals and tourists easier. With a simple tap of the finger, commuters can find out which routes and transfers to take. The screens will also be equipped with two-way communication so users can opt to speak with an actual MTA employee. The interactive kiosks are scheduled to be rolled out later this year.
