The New York Times Crossword Puzzle is in [3 down: Scorching H2O] Wednesday after using a clue that suggests feminism promotes anger towards men.

The clue -- 71A: "Exasperated comment from a feminist;" Answer: "Men!" -- was highlighted by Michael Sharp on his blog "Rex Parker Does the NY Times Crossword Puzzle."

"You are confusing feminists with decidedly NOT-feminist sitcom ladies who grouse about their shlubby husbands," Sharp writes. "Also, you are confusing feminism with anti-man sentiment (a common, pernicious mistake)."

Sharp goes on to point out that the "tin-eared clumsy" clue, constructed by Zachary Spitz, is indicative of the "monoculture of (mostly) white (mostly) men" puzzle makers.

Several other puzzle enthusiasts had similar thoughts about The Times' decision to promote antiquated attitudes about feminism.
