The votes are in and after one day, it's a landslide for President Obama.

Well, at least in terms of LinkedIn followers. The President had close to 42,000 followers on Wednesday morning vs. around 10,000 for GOP opponent Mitt Romney.

The two were among 150 "thought leaders" who LinkedIn chose for a program that lets fans on LinkedIn follow their posts similar to Twitter. President Obama chose to launch his presence on the platform with an argument designed to be in plain English, as if delivered to voters at their kitchen table. Romney, meanwhile, offered a "5-Point Plan For a Stronger Middle Class."

However, neither have as many followers as Virgin CEO Richard Branson's 51,509. LinkedIn hasn't ranked the most-followed celebs on the list, a company rep says. Some, like Findery Founder and CEO Caterina Fake and Cleveland Clinic CEO Delos Cosgrove, don't list their followers.

This isn't the first time Obama has bested Romney in social media stats. The President has 29 million fans on Facebook compared to close to 8 million for Romney. Obama also has 20.4 million Twitter followers compared to Romney who only has 1.2 million.
