An Australian politician has decided to channel U.S. President Barack Obama in a photo on a press release.

Prominent in the header of a statement sent to Australian media on Wednesday, Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie can be seen in an image resembling the iconic "Hope" poster from Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. She instead has chosen the word "Trust."

People are not really sure what to make of the new image. But, at least now, there is hope.

It is the latest in a string of strange behaviour we have come to expect from the outspoken Lambie. She has always been involved in interesting discussions on a range of topics, such as dating "well-hung guys" and Sharia law, and since departing the Palmer United Party to become an Independent, she has been just as vocal.

Earlier this month, Lambie likened a political party to the Islamic State, before being featured in a kooky video rant directed at the agricultural minister.

Now, she has a photo of herself resembling Obama.

We wonder what the "Hope" poster's designer Shepard Fairey thinks of its new adaption. He settled out of court with the Associated Press in 2011, due to claims he infringed the copyright of one of their images that was used as the base for his iconic design.

Lambie's office has been contacted for comment.
