Is President Obama the first Geek-in-Chief?

Star Trek's Nichelle Nichols was in Washington, D.C., late last month for a visit to NASA's Goddard Center. She also took a quick stroll by the White House to meet President Obama. Nichols confirmed Obama is "definitely a Trekker," and the pair gave the Vulcan salute to prove it:

Nichols, who played Lieutenant Uhura in the original 1960s television series, also said that Obama admitted he had a crush on her when he was younger. She also called the president "handsome" and "charming."

Months ago Pres Obama was quoted as saying that he'd had a crush on me when he was younger. I asked about that & he proudly confirmed it!— Nichelle Nichols (@RealNichelle) March 1, 2012

I was honored to get a chance to meet with Pres Barack Obame today in the White House. He was as charming and handsome as I had expected.— Nichelle Nichols (@RealNichelle) March 1, 2012
